Mari Mäntylä is one of the leading guitar artists in our country. Her main instrument is the decacorde, which is a 10-string classical guitar. Mäntylä has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in various parts of Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, collaborating with many Finnish and international composers.
Her repertoire encompasses various eras of classical music. In addition to that, she effortlessly navigates through different musical genres. She has worked with Finnish folk musicians and served as a guitarist in the Tirioni ensemble, which specializes in Portuguese fado music.
One of Mari Mäntylä's chamber music ensembles worth mentioning is Duo Dryades, which was formed in 2002 with Kristina Kuusisto, featuring bandoneon and decacorde. Mari Mäntylä's solo and chamber music recordings have all received excellent reviews in the music press both in Finland and internationally. The album "Speira" by Duo Dryades was also nominated for the Emma Awards.
