Kirsi Poutanen is a multidisciplinary artist, best known as a performing Finnish musician and singer specialising in Portuguese fado. She has been nominated for the Emma Award in Finland and the Premio do Amália in Portugal. Poutanen is currently working on a new fado album for the Alba label, to be recorded in Lisbon, in collaboration with Portuguese musicians.
Poutanen has published poetry for Tammi publishing house and Cozy Publishing, among others. Her literary output can also be found in the poetry anthology of WSOY and Tammi. She is currently working on her fourth poetry collection.
Poutanen has also worked as an actor and actor-singer in several professional theatres and in YLE's radio shows. She has also written a fado-themed musical drama for the Espoo City Theatre. In this production, directed by Eija Ahvo, Poutanen also acted and sang. The drama was subsequently adapted into a radio play for YLE.
Multidisciplinary Poutanen has designed and produced several sound works for visual art projects. Most recently, her sound work was featured in the spring in the exhibition Clothes of Strangers, Faces of Others by visual artist Antero Kahila in Berlin.
