Honk is an ensemble led by saxophonist Masa Orpana, one of the most prominent jazz musicians in the Tampere region, and featuring a saxophone section backed by a rhythm section in the spirit of New Orleans.
The band's warm, raw music is inspired by rhythmic New Orleans R&B and other blues styles. The unique repertoire consists mainly of original compositions. Carefully selected R&B classics are interpreted with Orpana's evocative arrangements. Guitarist-singer Johnny Gideon performs the vocal beats.
The band has thrilled audiences with numerous club and festival tours. Their music has also been praised by critics.
Blues News, for example, described The Chase! long-play as "unquestionably one of the best recordings of 2023".
