5th Season is a Finnish progressive rock quartet composed of some of the top figures in the rhythm music scene. The band includes bassist-songwriter Mikko Löytty (known from Q.Stone, SF Blues, Remu & Hurriganes), guitarist-composer Tapio Ylinen, who is also recognized from Pink Floyd tribute band PULSE and the Emma-nominated Mortality, keyboard wizard Arto Piispanen (associated with Dave Lindholm, Tuomari Nurmio, Ismo Alanko), and drummer Jani Auvinen, who is also known for his work with Uniklubi and Pekko Käppi K:H:H:L.
The band members' shared love, especially for the great prog rock bands of the 70s (such as Pink Floyd, Wigwam, Yes), has boldly guided the composition's own music onto the path paved by these great rock icons. On their self-titled album released in the spring of 2023, star guests include Durga McBroom, best known as the vocalist for Pink Floyd, and Jukka Gustavson, one of the founding members of Wigwam. The album features epic compositions in the classic prog style, while also incorporating improvised jamming.
