Petteri Loukio is a promising lyric spinto tenor from Finland. He graduated from Department of Music of the Tampere University of Applied Sciences in May of 2018. He finished an additional three year study in music pedagogy in 2021. His strengths are in the lightness and brightness of his upper register and in his ability to form a warm, strong and romantic timbre. Loukio’s presence on stage in both lied and opera is astounding. He is both versatile and true to his interpretation. Loukio’s voice is suited for many operatic and musical roles. His repertoire consists of both traditional and contemporary operatic works as well as a range of European lieder and popular operetta pieces.
Loukio also excels at lighter repertoire; jazz, Neapolitan songs, tango and other dance songs, as well as musicals. Together with his guitarist Jarno Setälä or pianist Eeva Tapanen, they can perform at parties and events where O sole mio, Por Una Cabeza, Core N’grato, Parla piu piano or perhaps Frank Sinatra’s My Way would be appropriate.
Since 2017, he has performed in numerous choirs, works, and roles in Finland and abroad. In the fall of 2020 and spring of 2023, he performed the role of Pong in Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot, produced by OperaBox. In the fall of 2022, he was part of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen choir in Kurt Weill's Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny.
Since then, he has released an album of Christian Holmqvist's songs with his pianist Eeva Tapanen in 2024, performed as part of the Finnish National Opera choir, and served as an understudy in an international EU-supported production in Italy and Poland.
Over the years, he has also performed and been a stand-in in many operetta roles, including Camille de Rosillon in Lehár's The Merry Widow, Tsarevich in Lehár's Tsarevich, and the title role in Lehár's Paganini.
During the 2019–2020 season, he was part of the Tampere Theatre ensemble in Alan Menken's musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He had a couple of smaller roles and was the understudy for two larger roles.
