Juha Saunala

A little progressive and even jazzy singer-songwriter from Vaasa
Saunala has played with Sepi Kumpulainen and Ramy Essam (EGY), among others, but nowadays as an independent artist also.
Saunala, who has been called the “master of melancholy,” does not perform as “man & guitar” in his solo shows, but rather as “man & bass guitar.” His music is dark-toned prog and jazz combined with wistful songs in the spirit of “1970s Finland.”
“A sobering take on the state of the world, but my intention isn’t to be depressing—it’s to fight against injustice,” says the artist. “Raw, human, organic music. The themes are harsh, but a fragile, beautiful comfort is always present.”
